As a current or future family caregiver, we often have to juggle a lot of curveballs thrown at us, which means at some point, the person you’re caring for will need medical attention that you have not anticipated for and it may be up to you to decide where to go. It is easy to default every situation as emergent and requires immediate attention at the emergency room. But is this the most appropriate choice? What about the financial consequences and risk of exposure to other diseases and hazards at the emergency room?
